UNM announces relaunch of Collegiate Recovery Center

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Center on Alcohol, Substance Use, and Addictions (CASAA) has announced the relaunch of the Collegiate Recovery Center (CRC) in collaboration with Student Health and Counseling (SHAC). The initiative aims to support students in recovery from substance use or those who are sober-curious.


Councilors seek withdrawal of proposed minimum wage ordinance

Two Albuquerque City Councilors support withdrawing “The Albuquerque Minimum Wage Ordinance” (C/S O-24-21) as proposed at the Council meeting on August 5. The measure, sponsored by District 6 Councilor Nichole Rogers, was postponed in a 5-4 vote after Councilor Rogers’s motions to postpone and withdraw the amended measure both failed.


UNM College honors outstanding Summer 2024 nursing graduates

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing celebrates the achievements of its nursing graduates who are on the trajectory to achieving their goals and becoming valuable members of the healthcare community, locally and beyond. UNM alums donate $252K for nurse scholarships and rural workforce

The University of New Mexico Foundation has announced a donation of $252,500 from UNM alumni and philanthropists Arishanda and Doug Campbell. This contribution will enhance nurse residency scholarships at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and support the nursing workforce in rural New Mexico through the UNM College of Nursing.


Las Cruces International Film Festival announces inaugural concert featuring Los Lonely Boys

The Las Cruces International Film Festival (LCIFF) will host its first concert this fall, headlined by Los Lonely Boys. The band, known for their unique "Texican rock ’n’ roll" style, will perform on Friday, Sept. 20, at the Grapevine Plaza & Event Center in Las Cruces.

ABQ BioPark mourns passing of 22-year-old serval Savanna

The ABQ BioPark animal care team is mourning the passing of beloved African serval Savanna. At 22, Savanna far surpassed the median life expectancy for servals of 13.5 years. She came to the ABQ BioPark at around four months old and was hand-raised. This close relationship with her care team gave her the opportunity to become one of their Ambassador Animals.


NMSU collaborates on NSF-funded agriculture project aiding tribal communities
