Greater Albuquerque Chamber announces new board leadership

The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce (GACC) has announced new leadership appointments following its Board of Directors meeting on May 22. Peter Lorenz, CEO of Unirac Inc., will serve as the incoming Chairman of the Board, while Kellie Mixon, President and CEO of New Mexico Mutual, has been named chair-elect.

Chamber President and CEO Terri Cole expressed confidence in Lorenz's leadership: “Peter brings his superb leadership skills and result-focused style to the role of chairman of the board for the Chamber. This is Peter’s second time as chairman for us, and we are so pleased to have Peter back in this leadership role.”

Lorenz previously held the GACC chairman position from 2022-2023. He has led Unirac Inc. since 2011 and possesses over two decades of experience in the electric power and renewables industry with roles at Quanta Service (PWR), McKinsey & Co, and Royal Dutch Shell (RDS). Additionally, he contributes to education as a founding board member of Solare Collegiate Charter School in South Valley and serves on the Board of Trustees at Manhattanville University in New York.

Kellie Mixon transitions into her new role after serving four years as treasurer for the Chamber since September 2021. Lorenz commended her contributions: “Kellie has been our treasurer, and she has done a fantastic job, and we are very grateful.” Mixon leads New Mexico Mutual as its president and CEO.

During the annual May Board Meeting, a slate of officers was approved unanimously by GACC's Nominating Committee. The approved list includes various roles such as Treasurer Shad James from Jaynes Corporation; Education BIG Chair Paul Madrid from Madrid Wealth Management; Public Safety BIG Chair Janice Torrez from Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico; Downtown Transformation BIG Chair Doug Majewski from Hartman+Majewski Design Group; State Government Advocacy Chair Sherman McCorkle from Sandia Science and Technology Park; Federal Advocacy Chair Leean Kravitz from Fidelity Investments; Local Government Advocacy Bruce Stidworthy from Bohannon Huston Inc.; Leadership Albuquerque Chair Jeremy Oswald from Citizens Bank; At-Large members Don Tarry from PNM Resources and Del Archuleta from Molzen-Corbin.

Three-year board nominations include Carolyn Ingram from Molina Healthcare, Gabriel Gonzales from PNC Bank, Marsha Majors from US Eagle Credit Union among others. One-year board appointments feature individuals like Bruce Stidworthy from Bohannan and Huston, Keith Sampson from Wagner Equipment, Brett Thompson from KPMG LLP among others.

Additionally, Tom Jenkins was appointed Economic Development Team Chair with several sector-specific chairs under his purview including Ryan Shell for Energy & Utilities at New Mexico Gas Company.

The upcoming program year starts on July 1st.
