Nella Domenici, a U.S. Senate Candidate in New Mexico, criticized a migrant parole program for "inadmissible aliens" from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela and Nicaragua (CHNV) under the Biden Administration as a "gross misuse of executive power." Domenici conveyed her statement to the New Mexico Sun on May 16.
"The Biden administration's loosening of rules for Venezuelans, Cubans, and Haitians is a gross misuse of executive power that ignores the bigger problems caused by an open border—illegal drugs, violent crime, cartels, gangs, sex traffickers, and other bad actors," said Domenici. "Ending human and drug smuggling at our border begins with Texas-style reinforced infrastructure and additional border patrol resources. Unfortunately, the misguided policies of progressives like Martin Heinrich make that harder to achieve."
Documents procured by the House Homeland Security Committee from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through subpoena reveal that from January to August of 2023, approximately 200,000 immigrants from CHNV were flown to 50 cities across the U.S. A press release from the House Homeland Security Committee in mid-October 2023 stated that there were 1.6 million "inadmissible aliens" waiting to join the parole program. The documents clarified: "All individuals paroled into the United States are, by definition, inadmissible, including those paroled under the CHNV Processes." From January to August of 2023, Miami, Florida received 91,821 immigrants; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida welcomed 60,461 immigrants; and New York City saw an influx of 14,827 immigrants.
According to Fox News reports on border activity in New Mexico, footage showed migrant smugglers crossing at Sunland. A Border Patrol agent informed Fox News that they have lost control of that section of the border to smugglers: "It's not ours... it's theirs."
Jason Owens, Chief of U.S. Border Patrol revealed in a post on April 29 that three sex offenders were apprehended in Eagle Pass, Rio Grande City and Cotulla Texas. Owens stated these men will be "set up for prosecution and removal from the U.S."
In another post on May 1st by Chief Owens he disclosed that Border Patrol arrested an MS-13 gang member from El Salvador who had previously been removed from the U.S. and will be charged for "felony re-entry." Owens also mentioned that in FY 2024, Border Patrol has arrested 41 MS-13 gang members.
