Albuquerque Isotopes first baseman Greg Bird was named to the Triple-A West Post-Season All-Star Team, KRQE reported

Bird, 28, led Albuquerque in home runs, 27, and RBIs, 91, in 112 games this season.

"First and foremost, it was just a good group of guys that were fun to be around," Bird said in a KRQE News Sports story published Tuesday, Oct. 5. "We had a great manager in Warren Schaeffer, and just getting an opportunity from the Rockies to play every day, that was something I haven’t done in a while. So, I mean that was kind of icing on the cake if you will, and it’s just pretty rewarding."

The Triple-A West All-Star Team squad was voted in by league broadcasters, Minor League Baseball executives and certain media members.

The team Facebook account gave him a shout out, as well. Bird signed his minor league deal with the Colorado Rockies in February.

Bird isn't the only Albuquerque player making New Mexico proud. Several former Isotopes, including Josh Bard, Paul Hoover, Joc Pederson, and Yimi Garcia, will be battling in the World Series.
