New Mexico United team officials recently announced the team will be reducing capacity at upcoming home games to 60% as part of a plan aimed at lowering the transmission of COVID-19 across the community, according to a team release.

For the month of September, crowds for all home matches will be capped at roughly 9,500 seats. In addition, team officials are encouraging fans in attendance to wear masks while on the grounds of Isotopes Park.

“Our goals are twofold: to create the most intimidating atmosphere in the USL Championship, and to keep New Mexicans safe,” New Mexico United Owner/President Peter Trevisani told NewMexicoUTD.com. “We must do our part to keep our communities healthy.”

Along with the new capacity restrictions, New Mexico United and partner Western Sky Community Care will also be offering COVID-19 tests prior to entry at United matches and even vaccinations at select tailgate events.

Team officials added they will reevaluate capacity restrictions as COVID-19 statistics across the state continue to change and be updated.
