NMSU Extension hosts resilience event addressing post-disaster challenges

New Mexico State University’s Mora County Cooperative Extension Service will host a Comprehensive Agricultural Resilience Event: Addressing Post-Disaster Challenges with the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims and Natural Resources Conservation Service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 18 at VFW Hall, Highway 518, in Mora, New Mexico. Experts and stakeholders will address vital issues facing the agricultural community after recent natural disasters.


Albuquerque Museum screens award-winning documentary on Tularosa Basin Downwinders

The Albuquerque Museum will present two screenings of "First We Bombed New Mexico," a new award-winning documentary by Lois Lipman about the Tularosa Basin Downwinders. The screenings are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 in the Ventana Salon. The film is being shown in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition "Nuclear Communities of the Southwest" and recognizes the 79th anniversary of the Trinity Test.

Damien Flores named seventh poet laureate for City of Albuquerque

The City's Department of Arts & Culture and the Albuquerque Poet Laureate Program announced the selection of Damien Flores as the city's seventh poet laureate during a celebration on July 7 at the Albuquerque Museum. Flores, a native of Old Town Albuquerque and alumnus of Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico, succeeds Anna C. Martinez (2022-2024).
