  • Nineteen local high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates are nearing the completion of an eight-week paid summer mentorship focused on exploring arts-based opportunities in the city. The Mayor's Creative Youth Corps, supported by Mayor Tim Keller and the Department of Arts & Culture, provides leadership training, community-building, and career exploration opportunities for Albuquerque's youth.


  • On Sunday, July 14, more than 600 community members joined the City of Albuquerque’s Albuquerque Community Safety Department, Bernalillo County, City Councilor Nichole Rogers, and Bernalillo County Commissioner Adriann Barboa for a block party at Wilson Park and Pool in Albuquerque’s International District. The Summer of Nonviolence event provided a blend of support services and entertainment for attendees of all ages.


  • City leaders are expressing general support for the special session this week and have sent a letter to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to convey the ongoing urgent need to address public safety concerns raised by the City in past regular sessions. A special session provides an opportunity to focus on critical issues like gun violence, mental and behavioral health, housing, and homelessness. With limited time available in regular 60/30-day sessions, there is little choice other than a special session for urgent policymaking.


  • The Air Quality Program of the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department has received a Title V Operating Permit renewal application from the University of New Mexico. The owner of the facility is The Regents of UNM, located at 1800 Roma Ave. NE in Albuquerque, NM 87131. Based on the application and information received to date, the Program intends to issue such Title V Operating Permit renewal to the facility. The draft permit has been assigned Operating Permit Application No. 0536-RN2.


  • Mayor Tim Keller, Chief of Police Harold Medina, and Transit Director Leslie Keener highlighted a proactive transit safety operation along the Central Avenue corridor. The operation began two weeks ago in southeast Albuquerque with APD’s Southeast Proactive Response Team. PRT members from across the city saturated the Central Avenue corridor along the transit route from Tramway Boulevard to Coors Boulevard.   • For the first time in recent city history, all labor unions have multi-year collective bargaining agreements with the City of Albuquerque. The seven unions represent front-line workers who keep the city running, as well as first responders who put their lives on the line every day for the community. The City values its union workforce and recognizes how important union labor is to maintain essential services.


  • As temperatures rise, Albuquerque families have more options to help beat the heat. The city has opened its newest splash pad at the brand-new Westgate Community Center and is adding another one at the Alamosa Community Center, expanding Albuquerque’s network of aquatic facilities.


  • ALBUQUERQUE – The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) is providing mutual aid assistance to the Taos Pueblo of Public Safety for their last Feast Day at the annual Pow Wow.

  • Beginning Monday, July 15th, the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) is expanding the Eastside shelter's days of service to seven days a week. The operational hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with pet viewing available from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This extension aims to support AWD’s overpopulated shelter during the summer.
