Santa Fe County completes NE/SE connector roads project ahead of schedule

SANTA FE, NM – The Santa Fe County Public Works Department has announced the completion of the Northeast/Southeast Connector Roads Project. Completed one month ahead of schedule after a year and eight months of construction, this project marks the largest county road initiative to date. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Falcon Way and Avenida Del Sur.

New Mexico issues heat advisory amid rising temperatures statewide

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) has urged residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses as temperatures in the state continue to rise. The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures exceeding 100°F in southern New Mexico and 95°F or higher in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Farmington. This heat wave is expected to last through the end of August.


City partners with state land office to aid school for blind expansion

The City of Albuquerque and the New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands have collaborated to facilitate the expansion of the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NMSBVI). This initiative involves a lease agreement for a vacant piece of state trust land, which the city will sublease to NMSBVI. The Albuquerque City Council approved this lease agreement at its meeting.

Santa Fe County opens stormwater management report for public comment

This report, which is to be submitted to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), outlines the County's efforts in 2023-2024 to reduce stormwater pollution under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit NMR040000.

Construction begins on Bonanza Creek Road

Effective August 19, 2024, a contractor for the Santa Fe County Public Works Department commenced roadwork as part of the County's revitalization project. This summer, four county roads will undergo improvements: CR-45 Bonanza Creek Road, Fin Del Sendero, Camino De Jacobo, and Camino Lisa. These projects span all five Commission Districts.


Albuquerque issues $9.25M revenue bonds for energy efficiency projects

Council Bill No. O-24-34, sponsored by Klarissa Pena, authorizes the issuance, sale, and delivery of City of Albuquerque Municipal Infrastructure Gross Receipts Tax Revenue Bonds, Series 2024. The principal amount is not to exceed $9,250,000. The bonds aim to finance energy efficiency projects associated with city facilities and cover related issuance expenses.


Route 790 resumes service linking Westside Albuquerque with key educational institutions

As staffing allows, ABQ RIDE is working to return bus service paused due to staffing shortages. On August 19, the popular Westside Route 790 returns as an important link from the Westside of Albuquerque to the University area and major destinations in central Albuquerque including Old Town and Downtown. The much-requested route benefits commuting students and staff to the University of New Mexico (UNM) with one change. It will now also serve Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) in addition to the UNM Campus.
