New Mexico United midfielder Zico Bailey has been awarded the 2025 USL Championship Goal of the Year, according to an announcement from the league. The award recognizes a standout goal that captured significant attention during the 2025 season.
Bailey's goal took place on September 10, 2025, in a match against Detroit City. He scored with a 63-yard chip from midfield, helping New Mexico United secure a 4-0 win. The goal was noted for its distance and execution, earning coverage on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 highlights.
The selection process involved fan voting, with Bailey’s goal advancing through several rounds among sixteen nominated goals before being named Goal of the Year.
In response to receiving the award, Bailey said his achievement brought recognition not only to himself but also to New Mexico United and its supporters.
