Eastern New Mexico University's men's track and field team began the 2025-26 indoor season with several strong performances at a meet in Topeka, Kansas. The team achieved multiple top-five finishes in school history and secured a number of provisional marks.
Head coach Joshua Harden commented on the team's early success: "Lots of good things happening early. We have to keep this momentum rolling into 2026."
In the 60-meter sprint, four Eastern New Mexico athletes competed: Hemon Joseph (6.93 seconds), Nicolo Salaris (7.04 seconds), Strahinja Radakovic (7.11 seconds), and John Magee (7.18 seconds). Both Joseph and Radakovic recorded collegiate bests.
The 200-meter event featured Eric Collins (22.31 seconds), Salaris (22.68 seconds), and Magee (22.30 seconds). In the 400 meters, Collins finished in 50.06 seconds while Byron Pruitt posted a personal best of 50.40 seconds.
Mid-distance runners Eloy Serrano Borrego and Brian Norton are expected to play key roles for the team this season. Serrano Borrego won his event with a meet record time of 1:53.12, placing him fourth all-time at Eastern New Mexico.
Hurdler Strahinja Radakovic ran an 8.03-second preliminary and an 8.07-second final to take fourth place, both provisional marks for NCAA Division II competition. Byron Pruitt also set a personal record with an 8.61-second finish, moving up to fourth-best in school history for the event.
In field events, Hemon Joseph achieved an NCAA Division II provisional mark in the long jump with a distance of 7.33 meters (24 feet, .75 inches). Angelo Bowser's jump of 7.02 meters earned him fifth place in school records, while Devon Falco opened his season with a jump of 5.33 meters.
Falco was also Eastern New Mexico's only entry in the triple jump, recording a leap of 14.21 meters—second-best in program history.
In throwing events, Andre Smikle reached 13.84 meters in shot put while Noe Ybaben Burciaga threw for 12.99 meters.
The weight throw saw Devin Mata achieve a mark of 14.58 meters—second-highest ever at ENMU—while Ybaben Burciaga reached 14.12 meters and newcomer Braden Pry threw for 13.01 meters, making him fourth all-time at ENMU in that event after just one meet.
The Greyhounds will continue their indoor campaign at the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open scheduled for early January in Flagstaff, Arizona.
