Eastern New Mexico University's women's basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the 2025-26 Lone Star Conference (LSC) Women's Basketball Preseason Poll. The poll, which included votes from league coaches, sports information directors, and media representatives, awarded the Greyhounds 657 points and two first-place votes.
The team is coming off a notable 2024-25 season with a 21-10 overall record and a 15-7 mark in conference play. Eastern New Mexico reached the South Central Regional semifinals and made program history by securing its first NCAA Tournament win with a 56-52 victory over Colorado Mesa.
Senior transfer Nataya Lockett returns for the upcoming season after being named a preseason player-to-watch. Last year, she earned All-LSC Third Team honors, averaging 10.8 points and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 43.3% from the field.
Texas Woman's University led the preseason poll with 810 points and received 20 first-place votes as it aims for its fourth straight LSC championship. Lubbock Christian (776 points), UT Tyler (761 points), and West Texas A&M (663 points) were ranked ahead of Eastern New Mexico, while Angelo State (656 points) completed the top six.
Head coach Blake Huber will lead the Greyhounds as they aim to build on last season’s NCAA Tournament success and compete for an LSC title.
