Second-year wrestling coach Chris Freije announced the 2025 signing class for New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) this morning. The class includes 28 new wrestlers from seven states, with eight athletes hailing from New Mexico.

"We're excited about the group we have joining the Cowboy family," said Head Coach Chris Freije. He emphasized that their program focuses on more than just wrestling. "The sport is the vehicle, but it's about more than wrestling for us at New Mexico Highlands. The cornerstones of our program lie in consistency with our integrity, work ethic, self-accountability, and having positive passion and gratitude for your pursuits."

Freije noted that this year's recruits include 15 freshmen and 13 transfers who embody these values. "It's about living in an environment where the daily focus is on growth and development—academically, athletically, and personally," he said. "Fueling the ideal of lifelong learning and helping shape leaders is paramount for us."

The new recruits include several accomplished wrestlers such as Cash Bachicha from Los Lunas High School, a New Mexico State Champion; Phil Chabot from Arizona State University, a Washington State Champion; and Mike Romero from Winslow High School, an Arizona State Champion.

The Cowboys' schedule for the 2025-26 season will be announced in the coming weeks.
