Western New Mexico men's golf sits in fifteenth after weather delay in Amarillo

The Western New Mexico University men's golf team completed the first day of competition at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in Amarillo, Texas, finishing in 15th place. The event, held at the Amarillo Country Club, saw play interrupted during the second round due to inclement weather. The Mustangs played through their first 29-30 holes at +21 and posted an opening round score of 300 (+16).

Oscar Feschuk led Western New Mexico with a first-round score of 74 and is currently one under par through 12 holes in his second round, placing him at +2 overall and tied for 45th. Teammates Jack Wadsworth, Jayden Schmitz, and Jonty Butcher are each at +7 after playing 30 holes, with opening rounds of 74, 74, and 78 respectively. They are tied for 75th.

Jacob Alcorta ended the day in 83rd place with a total score of +9 after an opening round of 78 and is currently +2 midway through his second round. Tyler Jackson competed as an individual for the Mustangs; he shot a first-round score of 77 and is one under par through 12 holes in his second round. Jackson finished the day at +5 overall and tied for 67th.

Second-round play will resume on October 15 at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Time.
