Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) customers in Grant County, New Mexico, including the newly added Mimbres zip code (88049), have an extended deadline to request emergency food benefits until Monday, July 28.
"We are urging SNAP customers in fire-affected areas of Grant County to request emergency food benefits replacement by Monday July 28," said Niki Kozlowski, Income Support Division Director at the New Mexico Health Care Authority. "If you believe you may be eligible, please call the Health Care Authority or visit our local office in Silver City."
This extension follows Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's executive order declaring a state of emergency due to the Trout Fire. SNAP customers living in zip codes 88053, 88061, 88062, and the newly federally approved ZIP code of 88049 may qualify for support. No documentation of specific food items is required as verbal reports are accepted.
To report food loss, individuals can either call (800) 283-4465 between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or visit the local office at 3088 32nd Street Bypass, Suite A, Silver City, NM 88061 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed from noon to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Eligible households must be current SNAP customers residing in the affected ZIP codes and report their food loss verbally or in writing by July 28. Additionally, SNAP customers across New Mexico can replace lost or damaged EBT cards via the FIS EBT Edge app, website www.ebtedge.com, phone at 1-800-843-8303, or through their local HCA office.
The New Mexico Health Care Authority emphasizes that replacement benefits can be processed quickly if reported before the deadline. This emergency support is part of ongoing efforts to assist approximately 4,975 New Mexicans recovering from fire-related damage. The HCA remains committed to ensuring access to resources during this challenging time.
