The New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) is set to host a webinar on March 26 at 1 p.m. to present its updated Empower & Collaborate State Economic Development Plan. This event marks a significant step in planning the state's comprehensive approach to economic development, focusing on both immediate opportunities and long-term strategies for economic diversification.
The NMEDD has collaborated with various stakeholders, including state agencies such as the Department of Workforce Solutions, Higher Education Department, Indian Affairs Department, and Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department. Regional and local governments, along with numerous organizations and industry leaders, have also contributed to crafting a strategic plan aimed at fostering economic growth.
"This state plan is not intended to be the final step but serve as a critical first step for unifying New Mexico’s economic development ecosystem," states the NMEDD. The vision outlined in this plan emphasizes creating a diverse and robust economy that leverages local talent, encourages innovation, and ensures prosperity for all residents of New Mexico.
Key speakers at the event will include NMEDD Cabinet Secretary-designate Rob Black; Lorenzo Reyes, Vice President/Dean of Workforce and Economic Development at San Juan College; and Taos Mayor Pascualito Maestas. The session will be moderated by NMEDD Just Transition Advisor Kayla Lucero-Matteucci.
