Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has expressed her condolences following the death of Dr. Harold Bailey, a leader in the NAACP. Dr. Bailey played a significant role in advocating for healthcare and education equity.
"Under Dr. Bailey’s leadership, the Albuquerque NAACP endorsed the Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Option Act in 2020, championing expanded healthcare options and addressing disparities in education and access," said Gov. Lujan Grisham.
Dr. Bailey's efforts were pivotal in empowering communities, especially those of color, to make informed decisions regarding end-of-life care. His advocacy contributed to the passage of the Act, which Gov. Lujan Grisham signed into law in 2021.
"I thank him for his advocacy and commitment to ensuring dignity and choice for all," she added.
Gov. Lujan Grisham emphasized that Dr. Bailey's legacy will continue to inspire future generations. She extended her "deepest condolences" to his family, friends, and everyone affected by his work.
