Michelle Kavanaugh was officially sworn in as the new Bernalillo County Clerk on January 1. Kavanaugh, who was elected to the position in November, brings significant experience to her new role, having served as deputy county clerk for four years.

During her time as deputy, she managed key functions of the office and led initiatives aimed at enhancing government accessibility, improving voting convenience, and ensuring every voice is heard. Kavanaugh is committed to providing experienced leadership with a focus on the challenges facing democracy.

“I am honored to serve the people of Bernalillo County and to work alongside such talented deputy clerks,” said Kavanaugh. “Together, we will continue to uphold the integrity and accessibility of our elections and public services.”

The ceremony also included the swearing-in of two new deputy clerks: Denine Morelos and Kelli Baca. Morelos is known for her expertise in Recording & Filing across the state and her contributions during election seasons. Baca offers substantial knowledge of election administration and a strong dedication to excellence.
