The Albuquerque Museum has named its lobby in honor of former Mayor Jim Baca. The newly designated Jim Baca Lobby recognizes the contributions of Baca, who served as the city's 27th mayor from 1997 to 2001. This dedication is part of the Keller administration's ABQ Stories of Us initiative.

The initiative aims to honor individuals who have significantly impacted Albuquerque's history and contributed to improving the lives of its residents. "Among his many accomplishments, Mayor Baca played a pivotal role in making the Albuquerque Museum what it is today," stated Mayor Tim Keller. "His vision and advocacy helped it become a leading art and history institution in the Southwest, a place where all families can connect to our city’s rich heritage."

The tribute acknowledges Baca's lifetime commitment to community service and his efforts during his mayoral tenure. He was instrumental in expanding the museum by introducing a new exhibition gallery, a multi-purpose space for public programs, and enhancing facilities such as the café and store.
