The New Mexico Oil and Gas Association (NMOGA) has highlighted the contributions of its member company, Flogistix by Flowco, in reducing methane emissions within the state's oil and gas sector. Methane emissions from this industry decreased by 26% in 2023 due to new regulations and advanced technologies.

Flogistix operates in New Mexico's major oil and gas basins with offices in Bloomfield and Carlsbad. The company provides emissions management solutions, including vapor recovery units (VRUs) and leak detection devices. These technologies help operators reduce emissions while complying with environmental standards.

Traditionally, excess natural gas released during oil production was burned off through flaring, a process that emits greenhouse gases. VRUs offer an alternative by capturing these vapors and converting them into usable products like propane and butane.

The vapor recovery process involves automated sensors detecting rising pressure in storage tanks. Vapors are then directed through pipes into a compressor where they are compressed, cooled, and separated into liquids and gases based on boiling points. This system allows companies to lower their carbon footprint while turning waste into valuable products.

"Flogistix is helping New Mexico’s oil and gas industry provide affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy options worldwide," stated NMOGA. "We’re proud to have them as a member."
