A variety of conferences, workshops, lectures, and other activities will be available to the public at The University of New Mexico for its 2024 Research and Discovery Week. This event, taking place from November 8 to 15, aims to showcase UNM's research initiatives while promoting resources and opportunities for all researchers affiliated with the university.
UNM Vice President for Research Ellen Fisher expressed enthusiasm about the event, stating, “November is becoming one of my most favorite months of the year because we’ve started a new tradition here on campus with Research & Discovery Week. It’s our third annual celebration where we take an entire week to celebrate our researchers and their contributions to sciences, humanities, the arts and the world around us. I hope to see all of you that week at one of our featured events!”
The celebration will commence on a Friday as November 8 is recognized as National STEM/STEAM Day. This day highlights the importance of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics education.
Initiated by UNM’s Office of the Vice President in 2022, R&D Week was designed to enhance awareness of the diverse research activities occurring daily on UNM campuses. The initiative also seeks to strengthen collaboration across communities and diversify research efforts at UNM.
The event will feature various activities aimed at students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members.
