Rep. Joshua Hernandez was recognized by the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce (GACC) for his work on a site readiness bill during the 2025 legislative session. The award, called the “Start to Finish” Legislative Award, was presented at the GACC’s July Board Meeting by Peter Lorenz, who serves as both chairman of the board and CEO of Unirac Inc.

The “Start to Finish” Award is given to legislators whose bills make it all the way to the governor’s desk. Hernandez received this honor for his efforts on legislation aimed at improving New Mexico’s ability to provide sites and buildings for companies seeking to expand or relocate within the state.

Peter Lorenz noted that New Mexico has historically fallen behind neighboring states in preparing available sites and buildings for business growth. He stated, “The legislation and associated funding will help the state invest in this key piece of the economic development puzzle.”

In response, Rep. Hernandez said, “This marks only the beginning,” adding that he intends to continue working toward keeping New Mexico competitive.
