On July 30, Haaland addressed the increasing frequency of natural disasters linked to climate change. She stated, "From floods to fires, climate disasters are our new reality. As governor, I'm committed to preparing for any challenge the changing climate brings to our friends and families and ensuring communities have what they need when disaster strikes."
Later that day, she commented on economic disparities and leadership priorities. In her post dated July 30, Haaland wrote, "Millionaires and Billionaires only care about one thing: themselves. The people that put us in this mess aren’t going to get us out. Too many families fall through the cracks. As Governor, I bring valuable experience and proven leadership to fix this broken system."
On July 31, Haaland emphasized her approach to governance by focusing on dialogue with constituents across political divides. She posted, "Honest conversations bring real change. Across the state, New Mexicans are tired of band-aid solutions. I’m visiting every community, red, blue, and those left behind to listen, learn, and deliver. Let’s build a state that finally works for everyday New Mexicans."
Deb Haaland has served as governor since January 2023 after previously holding the position of U.S. Secretary of the Interior from March 2021 until December 2022.
