U.S. Senate Candidate for New Mexico Nella Domenici's campaign stated that opponent Martin Heinrich's border policies have led to increased danger in New Mexican communities. The Domenici campaign released the statement in a press release on August 19.
"New Mexicans know Heinrich has only worked to allow more drugs, more cartels, and more violence to plague our communities," said Domenici, U.S. Senate Candidate in New Mexico.
According to the press release, Martin Heinrich, Domenici's opponent in the race for a seat in the U.S. Senate for New Mexico, has consistently voted down legislative efforts to end the fentanyl crisis in New Mexico. These efforts include voting against two separate bills that would have provided funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol to aid their efforts to stop trafficking of illicit narcotics.
Heinrich has also voted against numerous legislative efforts to remove illegal migrants with criminal convictions or arrest previously deported individuals, according to the press release. He has also voted against other efforts like the Laken Riley Act, which prohibits immigrants charged with nonviolent crimes such as burglary or theft from receiving any immigration benefits.
The Domenici Senate campaign has voiced commitment to fighting fentanyl and "making border security and national security a top priority," according to the press release.
Nella Domenici was born in Albuquerque and received a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University, a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, and a graduate degree from Harvard Business School. She is running for U.S. Senate in New Mexico against Senator Martin Heinrich, according to Ballotpedia.
