Justin S. Green, Commissioner District 1 | County Of Santa Fe

Residents of Santa Fe County are being called upon to provide their input on the Hazard Mitigation Plan update. Fire Chief Jacob Black emphasized the importance of public engagement in the planning process, stating, "Public engagement is critical to the success of hazard mitigation planning." He also highlighted that the upcoming public meetings present an opportunity for residents to learn about the County's emergency management, mitigation, and response efforts.

The County has scheduled three public meetings in March to gather input from constituents. The meetings will take place on Wednesday, March 6, Thursday, March 7, and Thursday, March 14, with varying times and locations for residents to participate either in-person or virtually.

In addition to the public meetings, residents are encouraged to take a survey that will provide valuable information to the planning team for the development of the Hazard Mitigation Plan. This survey will help educate the planning team's approach to mitigating various hazards that may impact the community.

For those interested in participating in the survey or seeking more information about the Hazard Mitigation Plan update, they can contact Stevie Ann Hodgson-O’Connell, Mitigation Outreach Specialist at H2O Partners, via email at shodgson@h20partnersusa.com or by phone at 631-921-2460. Alternatively, individuals can reach out to Fire Chief Jacob Black of Santa Fe County at jblack@santafecountynm.gov or by phone at 505-992-3083.

Residents are encouraged to engage and provide their valuable input to help safeguard Santa Fe County from potential hazards by participating in the public meetings and survey.
