The City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County have announced the creation of the Middle Rio Grande Housing Collaborative (MRGHC), a joint initiative aimed at addressing the growing need for affordable housing in the region.

The MRGHC is currently seeking a Planning & Operations Director to lead its establishment and ongoing activities. This full-time position will be responsible for developing the Collaborative's structure, securing funding, and managing projects to increase the availability of affordable housing units.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree, preferably a master's, in Public Administration, Business Administration, Executive Management, or Social Services. Experience in administration management, grant development, public policy development, and financial operations is highly desirable.

Employment requires a successful background check, a valid New Mexico driver’s license, and no more than one moving violation in the past year. All new employees are subject to a one-year probationary period. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The MRGHC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Applications are encouraged by Friday, October 25, 2024. The position will remain open until filled.

Interested candidates can submit their resumes by email to [email protected] or mail/drop them off at 809 Copper Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 by Friday, October 25th, 2024.

Under the agreement between the City and County: "The City and County will exercise common powers over the Middle Rio Grande Housing Collaborative," aiming to address "the shortage of safe, affordable, and sanitary housing." The Collaborative will consist of five members chosen by both entities and will operate alongside existing city and county housing authorities. Its purpose is to finance and prioritize affordable housing through long-range planning for property development and redevelopment by studying current affordable housing services and identifying gaps.
