Los Alamos National Laboratory announced that the Chain Lab in Genomics and Bioanalytics and the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) have been acknowledged for their commitment to sustainability. The recognition comes as a result of the two labs' participation in the "Green Lab" certification process offered by My Green Lab on Nov 15th.

Within the Health Research Laboratory, the Chain Lab has achieved the highest level of certification available, securing the prestigious green-level certification. Simultaneously, the CINT Gateway facility has earned the second-highest level of certification, attaining the platinum-level certification from My Green Lab, according to a press release by Los Alamos National Laboratory.

"As environmental researchers, our group has always been very aware of how our lab practices can affect the world around us", said Julia Kelliher, a research technologist for the Chain Lab, according to a press release by Los Alamos National Laboratory. "We are continually looking for ways to implement sustainability best practices in our labs, and obtaining this certification has only furthered and cemented this commitment."

My Green Lab's global initiative has been endorsed by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign, marking it as a critical gauge of progress toward a zero-carbon future and the foremost standard for exemplary laboratory sustainability practices, according to a press release by Los Alamos National Laboratory.

"As Los Alamos strives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to a net-zero level, we all need to think about how we operate. These new My Green Lab certifications demonstrate that is already happening," said Genna Waldvogel who oversees the Lab’s Sustainability program according to a press release by Los Alamos National Laboratory. "We encourage more participation in My Green Lab whether it is at individual lab level or like CINT a multipurpose facility with over 11,000 square feet of laboratory space and over 100 regular users."
