Nusenda CEO honored by NMSU College of Business

Nusenda President and CEO Joe Christian has been honored by the New Mexico State University (NMSU) College of Business. The Hall of Fame award, established in 1997, recognizes distinguished business college alumni who have excelled in their careers. This initiative aims to enhance visibility for its alumni and foster a strong relationship with the business community.

“I am humbled and grateful to the college for this honor. As the first in my family to attend college, the support I received from NMSU during my education was critical to my success,” said Nusenda President and CEO Joe Christian. “Induction into the NMSU College of Business Hall of Fame is a testament to the foundational concepts I learned during my educational journey in the MBA program. These concepts have helped guide Nusenda Credit Union’s strategic direction, influencing everything from thought leadership to career development, to technological advances. This achievement is also a reflection of the many talented, dedicated individuals I help lead who are committed to supporting the economic growth of families and businesses in New Mexico and West Texas.”

Joe Christian has over 35 years of service at Nusenda Credit Union, holding several key leadership positions including his current role as President/CEO. His previous roles include Executive Vice President of Operations from 2014 to 2019, Chief Operations Officer from 2011 to 2014, and Chief Administrative Officer from 2007 to 2011. He began his career at Nusenda in 1986 as Data Processing Manager leading the Information Systems Department.

Throughout his tenure, he has focused on leadership, strategy, and innovation contributing significantly to Nusenda's success. Joe has received multiple accolades such as Leadership Awards from the Albuquerque Journal in 2019 and 2022 and was named one of the top 100 national Influencers in Finance by The Business Journals in 2019. Additionally, he serves on various boards including CU Anytime, Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, and Constellation Digital Partners.
