New Mexico State University (NMSU) is set to host the STTE Foundation's Southwest Collegiate Cup, sponsored by Microsoft, bringing together students from six universities in the Southwest. According to a press release by NMSU, the participating universities include Colorado State University, NMSU, New Mexico Tech, Texas Tech University, the University of New Mexico, the University of Texas at El Paso, and the University of Texas Permian Basin.

The event, scheduled for November 2, aims to inspire university students pursuing entrepreneurship, foster innovation, and facilitate the exchange of ideas. It will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Corbett Center Student Union. The Southwest Collegiate Cup judges will include professionals from Microsoft, the Stanford Angels Texas Chapter, No Border Ventures, the MCA Foundation, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Students participating in the Southwest Collegiate Cup will form teams to compete for awards and recognition. This event provides them with a platform to showcase their entrepreneurial potential and collaborate with peers from other universities in the Southwest. The participating judges, who are experienced professionals from various fields, will ensure a well-rounded evaluation of the students' entrepreneurial initiatives.

“Arrowhead Center is honored to partner with Joseph Sapien and the STTE Foundation to host this extraordinary regional competition on our campus,” said Kathy Hansen, director and CEO of Arrowhead Center according to a press release by NMSU.

“We’re excited to offer this unique opportunity to college students pursuing startups. Many of the colleges were super happy to be invited to this first-of-its-kind competition. We want to help startups grow in the Southwest and turn this region into a super ecosystem for innovative ventures, just like Silicon Valley,” said Sapien, the executive director of the El Paso-based STTE Foundation, according to a press release by NMSU.

Attendance for the Southwest Collegiate Cup is free and open to the public, providing an opportunity for the community to support and engage with the entrepreneurial endeavors of these university students.
