The City of Albuquerque has announced the reopening of the Trumbull Child Development Center after undergoing extensive renovations. According to a press release by the City, the center now features two new classrooms and a modernized playground with updated equipment.

The Trumbull Child Development Center, which previously offered Early Head Start classrooms for infants and toddlers, has expanded its offerings to include Early Pre-K and Pre-K classrooms. This expansion allows families to access the city's five-star early childhood education programs conveniently. The center can now accommodate up to 60 children aged 0 to 5 with the addition of these new classrooms.

"We know that learning begins at birth, and we at the City, along with State and Federal partners, are committed to investing in early learning so that kiddos and families have the opportunities and support they need," said Dr. Dawnita Blackmon-Mosely, Associate Director for Child & Family Development, as stated in the press release.

In addition to the renovation of the Child Development Center, Trumbull Park, where the center is located, has also undergone improvements. The City Parks and Recreation Department (PRD) was able to conduct maintenance work and reseed turf areas during the renovation process. Furthermore, the state legislature has allocated $150,000 for future enhancements at Trumbull Park. The PRD is currently working on a new master plan for the park, which is scheduled for completion in 2024.

"Parks are great for kids, especially in early childhood," said Dave Simon, Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. "Access to parks increases physical activity and supports social-emotional well-being. Improving Trumbull Park goes hand-in-hand with the renovated Child Development Center," he added.

The City of Albuquerque emphasized that early childhood education programs at the Trumbull Child Development Center are available at no or low cost to families, and enrollment for the Pre-K class is still open.

The reopening of the Trumbull Child Development Center and the improvements at Trumbull Park highlight the City of Albuquerque's commitment to providing quality early childhood education and ensuring that children have access to safe and engaging spaces for their development.
