The City of Albuquerque has announced that the City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) will now operate the Lucky Paws Adoption Center seven days a week. To celebrate this expansion, adoption fees for any pet are being waived according to a press release by the City of Albuquerque.

"Now being fully staffed, Lucky Paws will bring much needed support to AWD’s overpopulated shelters," stated the City of Albuquerque.

The Animal Welfare Department (AWD) will offer one day of complimentary basic dog training alongside a dog adoption. Additionally, Boofy's Best for Pets provides a free 30-minute basic bath coupon with each pet adoption. Adoption events take place from Tuesday, Oct. 24 through Tuesday, Oct. 31, with adoption locations at Lucky Paws in Coronado Mall, operating from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and from noon to 5:30 p.m. on other days according to a press release by the City of Albuquerque.

"Lucky Paws Adoption Center does an incredible job caring for a variety of homeless pets," said Carolyn Ortega, Director of the Animal Welfare Department. "Our utmost priority is matching our pets with people that will provide them with a loving home. I’m proud of my staff for their compassionate approach and service excellence in finding our pets their forever homes."

The City of Albuquerque outlined that Lucky Paws is an adoption center committed to uniting shelter pets' and their 'forever homes'. These pets are spayed or neutered, immunized, and equipped with microchips for their safety. For the sake of the animal's welfare, Lucky Paws and the City of Albuquerque have established specific criteria for qualified adopters. These criteria include being at least 18 years old and having no prior convictions related to animal cruelty, no more than two HEART Ordinance violations, no revoked animal-related permits, no history of failed reclaims, no recent surrenders within the past year, and no convictions related to child or domestic abuse according to the Lucky Paws Adoption Center description page provided by the City of Albuquerque.
