The public is encouraged to participate in a meeting hosted by Bernalillo County to offer input on the planned redesign of Blake Road, spanning from the Isleta Drain to Isleta Boulevard. Project specialists will conduct a presentation, followed by a Q & A session to engage with attendees according to a press release.

Bernalillo County announced, "The full scope of the project extends on Blake Road to Isleta Blvd. Funding is comprised of federal, state, and county sources."

The meeting will take place at South Valley Academy's Gymnasium, located at 3426 Blake Road, SW, with an open house scheduled from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by an in-person meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. During this engagement, attendees will have the opportunity to gain insights from project specialists through a presentation and ask questions about the project according to a press release.

"This redesign project and the improvements it will bring to Blake Road are another example of our commitment to modernization and safety enhancements to infrastructure throughout the county and South Valley," said District 2 Commissioner, Steven Michael Quezada, according to a press release.

The Blake Road redesign project is an initiative aimed at addressing multiple critical aspects. It seeks to mitigate flooding issues along the corridor, enhance the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, and upgrade the overall infrastructure. The initial phase of construction, anticipated to commence in the spring or summer of 2024, will cover the section from the Isleta Drain to the eastern side of Foothill Road. The project encompasses the entire stretch of Blake Road up to Isleta Boulevard and is funded through a combination of federal, state, and county resources according to a press release.

The project plan encompasses several key components, including the incorporation of curb and gutter systems, the establishment of ADA-compliant sidewalks along the corridor's length, the installation of a modern storm drain system, and the creation of dedicated bike lanes wherever feasible according to a press release.
