New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority CEO Hernandez: 'We look forward to continuing and expanding our partnership with Mayor Maestas'

On July 10, the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) issued a press release announcing that their staff and Board of Directors conducted their monthly board meeting at Kit Carson Electric Cooperative, Inc. in Taos, New Mexico on June 21. During the meeting, discussions revolved around diverse housing-related subjects, such as market opportunities, funding awards, and a visit to the DreamTree Project according to a press release by MFA.

According to a press release issued on July 10, the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) held its monthly board meeting at Kit Carson Electric Cooperative, Inc. in Taos, New Mexico. Stakeholders such as Senator Roberto Gonzales, Mayor Pascualito Maestas, and other community leaders were present, and a presentation on Single Family Development Opportunities in New Mexico was delivered by YSM Development Advisors. The meeting encompassed various topics, including discussions on market opportunities, funding awards, and a tour of the DreamTree Project.

“Discussion and collaboration are where ideas are born,” said Donna Maestas- De Vries, MFA’s Chief Housing Officer according to a press release by MFA. “It is important to hear the opinions of all stakeholders and really take them into consideration to better our understanding of how to serve the people in our state.”

During the meeting, the MFA Board of Directors approved $1.3 million in awards for the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program. Additianally, the Board approved funding for the Three Sisters Apartments, a 70-unit complex in Las Cruces, New Mexico, developed by Chelsea Investment Corporation and awarded $7 million in funding from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds and the New Mexico Housing Trust Fund. The meeting also featured a tour of the DreamTree Project's facilities, highlighting the organization's provision of housing and compassionate services for youth, adults, and families experiencing housing instability, with funding support from various sources, including MFA according to a press release by MFA.
