The Albuquerque Police Department responded to another deadly shooting at a house party, this one occurring in Northwest Albuquerque shortly after midnight on June 4.

According to investigators, officers arrived at the scene of the incident to discover three individuals were dead.

"Within minutes of dispatching the call, officers responded quickly to the scene. Three adult males were deceased,” Albuquerque Police Department communication director Gilbert Gallegos said told KOAT. “Two of them were 18 years old, and one was 20 years old. There was a female who hid behind a couch but still got struck in the upper thigh area. She was treated at the hospital and has already been released."

Albuquerque police said an altercation happened at the house party between Jordan Johnson and two others, Marcos Perez and Nicholas Ortega. Johnson then pulled out a firearm and shot and killed Perez, according to police. Ortega drew his own firearm and exchanged gunfire with Johnson. Police said that all the people involved in the shooting died.

Gallegos said a confrontation sparked the shooting. “Someone pushed another one to the floor,” he said. “At some point, they started firing shots. Dozens of shots were fired."

The report continues. “It does appear that there were possibly two groups of maybe two individuals, each or three, who shot at each other at the time of this incident,” Gallegos said. “Officers have collected casings. We do believe more than one gun was involved, and guns have been recovered as well."

Neighbors told KOAT they’re not surprised the home is involved in gun violence. It also has a reputation for reckless house parties. Neighbors told KOAT they’ve made numerous calls to police over the years regarding unsavory behavior at the home.

APD said there have been 44 homicides as of June 5, 2023, compared to 51 homicides as of the same date in 2022.
