Lance Garcia, owner of the Albuquerque barbershop, Fate Barber Co., described how vandals stripped his business June 2, "taking whatever they can get, literally mirrors off the walls," KRQE reported.

He watched thieves on video breaking into his barbershop, making off with items, such as clippers, tools, product, and a kid’s arcade machine, the station reported.

Garcia, sadly, is all too familiar with break-ins at his business, which is located near Eubank and Candelaria. He has experienced thieves getting away with items from his shop three times in five years.

According to Garcia, several nearby businesses, including salons, have been victims, leaving many stores and shops boarded up.

“We see a lot of people kind of coming through, scouting out, looking in, and then days later you see break-ins," Garcia told KRQE. "It’s been all salon owners. I mean one of the girls across the street said it’s going to take her six months to even recover from something like that."

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, there have been six reports of break-ins at hair salons. Salons, in general, tend to be a target for burglars, as they were hit heavily in May.

“From my friends who are tattoo artists and salons, [I hear] a lot of these people are getting broke into."

Though Garcia said these incidents won't keep him from doing what he loves, it does tend to make business more difficult. He has plans to add bars to the windows and doors.

“We got security cameras," he said. "We have had fingerprints and they have been able to ID people, and still nothing comes of it."

This third break-in in the past five years caused $7,000 in damage, Garcia said.
