The Ninth Annual Rail Yards Holiday Market was more extensive this year, featuring twice as many vendors covering three times the space. The recently held two-day event was spread among three buildings, and the plaza offered residents and visitors a chance to purchase items produced locally.

“Our city was built around the Rail Yards, so it’s an amazing feeling to activate the space and support the local economy and allow neighbors and visitors alike to enjoy the Rail Yards,” Market manager Alaska Piper told KRQE.

The Rail Yards Market of Albuquerque is a certified nonprofit that, according to its website, is “building a resilient, sustainable, local economy where the surrounding historic communities thrive, all can participate and everyone is enriched and inspired.”

Featuring food, art, education and music, the market works to bring the community together. Information is available at https://railyardsmarket.org/about.php

The organization prides itself on being home to more than 400 local farmers, makers, bakers and chefs, an affordable source of nourishment and creativity, and home to the state’s famous red and green chiles.
