An emergency declaration signed by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham provided $400,000 that is being used to address the significant damage to the village of Cuba’s water supply.

“Village of Cuba residents, business owners and surrounding communities depend on this natural resource,” Mayor Denny Herrera told KOB. “We thank the governor for making funding available to deliver water to our community.”

Sandoval County, according to KOB, is in the design phase of a $5 million to upgrade and improve the village’s aging drinking water infrastructure.

The governor also signed an emergency declaration in July over the drinking water supply in Las Vegas after flooding threatened the area’s supply.
