The City of Santa Fe welcomes public input to identify priorities in improving city parks.
The city's governing board on March 9 approved over $11 million for “critical operational needs for the city,” and at least $1 million for city parks improvements was included, according to a memo on the city's website.
Park improvements will include $400,000 for tennis court construction and resurfacing; $320,000 for Municipal Recreation Sports Complex (MRC) and golf course bathroom repairs; $120,000 for new gates at parks, including Fort Marcy and Cross of the Martyrs; $60,000 for sod for plaza lawns; $90,000 for MRC effluent irrigation pump replacement; and $50,000 for replacement of median mowers, the memo said.
“We’re going to sit at this park and we are going to talk about what is the programming of this park – what do they like, what they don’t like – really looking at that feedback that will help us more in updating our master plan,” Melissa McDonald, Santa Fe Parks director, said to KRQE.
Santa Fe has 68 developed parks, 26 undeveloped parks, and 170 miles of trails, according to the city’s website.
