People in Albuquerque and the state will have more live music shows to look forward to in 2022, and local musicians are celebrating.

The New Mexico public health mandate prohibited large gatherings and live shows and it wasn't until July that music began to see a resurgence, KRQE reported.

Donny Tesso, a local bass musician and educator, told the station that he averaged 120 gigs a year when the music industry was thriving pre-pandemic.

Tesso said on the podcast that he is a full-time musician who provides lessons, and he lost 25% of his music students during the pandemic. He also plays with his two daughters in a band called “Soreia.”

“From 1979 through 1982 Donny traveled as a pro bassist in a top 40 R&B band visiting 30 states and Canada," according to Albuquerque Bands Online. "After returning from the road in the winter of 83 he moved to Las Vegas Nevada. He endured over 4 years of the Vegas music scene working most of the grueling casino circuit.”

Tresso moved his family to New Mexico in 1988 and became highly touted musician on scene.
