Mayor of Santa Fe Expresses City's Condolences, Concern for All Impacted by Tragedy Suffered on Local Film Set

October 22, 2021 -- On behalf of the City of Santa Fe, Mayor Alan Webber expresses sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who tragically lost her life yesterday as the result of an incident during a film production in Santa Fe County, just south of the City.

The City also offers its wishes for the swift and complete recovery of Joel Souza, the director harmed in the same incident, who is being treated at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.

"We offer support for everyone on this project and all touched by yesterday’s tragedy," says Mayor Webber. "The television, film and digital entertainment community is an important part of the greater community. The Film and Digital Media Commission contributes to all aspects of our cultural life. We all share in hoping everyone can come through this awful experience, and will do everything we can to support those touched directly and indirectly by the tragedy."
