Trouble with the law in Las Vegas prompted the suspension of a famed MMA fighter from an Albuquerque gym.

KOAT reported that Jackson-Wink Mixed Martial Arts Academy issued Jon "Bones" Jones a temporary suspension.

“Jon Jones has been temporarily suspended from training with the Jackson-Wink Academy team," the gym’s spokesperson told the station.

Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, has been embroiled in legal issues the past two years.

The ABC affiliate reported that Jones was arrested on domestic violence charges in Las Vegas after he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in late September. Last year, he was arrested on DWI and firearm charges, and in 2019, he was arrested charges of assaulting a waitress.

Jones’ Las Vegas arrest appeared to be the last straw for Jackson-Wink co-owner and co-head coach Mike Winkeljohn.

“I have a wife, three daughters, a mom,” Winkeljohn told KOAT. “I teach women’s self-defense. It just makes it hard when (Jones) keeps getting in trouble.”
