The New Mexico women’s soccer team on Oct. 17 defeated former sole conference leader Fresno State 2-1 to cap a three-game losing streak.

The Lobos then kept the momentum rolling with a 2-0 victory over Colorado College Thursday night to sit tied for first with Fresno State in the conference standings at 5-2-1 in Mountain West play.

UNM’s attack was largely nonexistent for the first half against Fresno State as the Lobos managed to fire just three shots, but the defense held the Bulldogs to two.

After knotting the match at 1-1, the Lobos racked up five shots in the next 11 minutes.

According to the release, Lobos redshirt senior Alexa Kirton delivered the go-ahead shot in the 75th minute.

Against Colorado College, UNM scored twice in under three minutes as Jadyn Edwards and Molly Myers found the net in the 66th and 68th minutes, respectively.

UNM now has double-digit wins under its belt, compiling an 11-4-1 overall record and next takes on Air Force on Oct. 24 at 1 p.m.
