Western New Mexico finishes 11th at Lone Star Conference cross country championships

Western New Mexico University's Men's Cross Country team secured the 11th position at the Lone Star Conference Championships held in Fort Worth, Texas. The event took place at the AP Ranch, where 13 teams competed.

Samuel Ketcham, from Goodyear, Arizona and a student of Canyon View High School, led his team by finishing 17th in the men's 8K with a time of 25:34.81. His performance was crucial for the team's overall score of 237 points.

Michael Castorena from El Paso's Parkland High School also delivered a strong performance, finishing in 28th place with a time of 26:00.03. Cameron Shorty followed in 57th place with a time of 27:07.83.

The competition was intense, with West Texas A&M University claiming the championship title by scoring just 20 points.

Other participants for Western New Mexico included Ameen Ibrahim in 77th place (27:52.24), Morgan Haan in 84th (28:06.54), Jacob Corral in 86th (28:16.80), and Dax Rios in 92nd (28:44.35).

The Mustangs are preparing for their next challenge at the NCAA South Central Regionals scheduled for November 8th in Pueblo, Colorado.
