University of New Mexico softball coach Paula Congleton recently announced that the team has signed transfer catcher Janae Cameron, according to a press release.

Cameron comes to the Lobos from the University of Nebraska Omaha having played three seasons with the Mavericks. She will join as a senior at the semester break mark.

"We are very excited to have Janae join our Lobo family," Congleton said in the press release. "She will bring experience behind the dish and another powerful bat to our lineup."

Cameron has played in 98 games and started in 85. For her career, she's racked up 57 hits, 13 doubles, 26 walks, 34 RBIs and six home runs, according to the press release.

"The culture that Coach Congleton and her staff have built at UNM is exciting, and something I knew I wanted to be a part of from our first conversation," Cameron said on her decision to join the program. "The emphasis on working hard and always putting the team first fit the type of environment I knew I’d be able to thrive in. I couldn’t be more excited to be a Lobo."
