Rep. Yvette Herrell is demanding answers after she toured Holloman Air Force Base and investigated the conditions surrounding the Afghan refugees housed there.

Herrell gave her full account of the visit in a Fox News report, along with a written statement.

"Americans deserve transparency in the vetting process for refugees. My visit to Holloman AFB revealed a dangerously vague system," Rep. Yvette Herrell (R-Santa Fe) said in a post on Twitter.

Herrell said that the base is currently holding an estimated 5,000 refugees and that they are fed, clothed, given medical services and sleeping quarters, according to Fox News.

Upon asking, she said, officials at Holloman could not provide the names of those in the "Village," their criminal history or even whether access to criminal backgrounds were available, according to Fox News.

Herrell and other Republicans recently wrote a letter to President Joe Biden about their concerns, and demanded answers that have yet to be given, the New Mexico Sun reported earlier

Fox News said that government officials could not confirm whether they had access to criminal and security databases in Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries, according to the article.
