Radio host Eddy Aragon recently confirmed his decision to join the race to become Albuquerque's next mayor.

The Republican candidate, known as the radio host and owner of 1600 AM, was proud to announce his ability to surpass 3,000 signatures in a petition to join the race in only 14 days, according The Albuquerque Journal.

“We’ve got more than enough momentum, and a lot of people who have jumped behind our campaign,” he said.

Aragon originally submitted paperwork to join the race back in the spring, then decided to sit out the race, only to change his mind once again and put in to be on the ballot in late July, joining incumbent Tim Keller and Bernalillo County Sheriff Manuel Gonzales.

Serving as the only Republican representative on the ballot, Aragon will be up against Democrats Keller and Gonzales. According to ABQ, the newly established candidate spends much of his time preparing for his three-hour daily broadcasting period, during which he garnered additional support for his ballot campaign.
