Modeled after the community-driven public-safety program successfully implemented in downtown Albuquerque in 2019, the newly launched Nob Hill-University ECHO Program will engage University of New Mexico officials, local business owners and law enforcement leaders in discussions about how to enhance public safety in that area, KOB 4 reportedKOB 4 reported.

"We just marked the two years of our Downtown ECHO, and I am excited to be able to provide the same assistance to our Nob Hill-University area, known for its incredible business community and the institutions fostering the future leaders of our city," Mayor of Albuquerque Tim Keller wrote in a tweet.

Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina praised both efforts for helping to get the public invested in community safety. The first Nob Hill meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 7, KOB 4 reported.

"Project ECHO puts our officers on the ground, working with the community, practicing community policing, but at the same time, it helps us get people to the right resources," Medina told KOB 4.

The city is currently circulating a survey asking residents about working and living in Nob Hill to help the ECHO initiative.
