New Mexico United's Dayonn Harris has been named the USL Championship’s 2025 Comeback Player of the Year, following his return from a year-long recovery after an ACL injury. The award, which is decided by fan vote, highlights Harris' impact on the field since his comeback in late July.
Harris returned to play on July 26 and scored a crucial goal in his first match back, helping New Mexico United secure a victory. Throughout the season, he contributed three goals and four assists while playing over 1,000 minutes. His performance included a last-second goal that advanced New Mexico United to its first Western Conference Final.
The league recognized not only Harris’ statistics but also his work ethic and resilience during the season. According to the announcement, "Harris reestablished himself as one of the Championship’s most dynamic attacking threats." The statement added that his "relentless work rate, resilience, and competitive edge embodied the spirit of perseverance the award represents."
