Senior forward Jose Murillo of Eastern New Mexico University has been named the Lone Star Conference defensive player of the week. Murillo received the honor following a weekend in which he averaged 18 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals per game.

"(Jose) had a great performance," said head coach Daven Võ when informed about the award. "This is a team award. They put him in a position to do what he does best."

Murillo played a key role in helping Eastern New Mexico secure two victories over the weekend, extending their winning streak to five games.

"Really," said Murillo upon learning of his recognition as defensive player of the week. "Credit goes to all my teammates. They prepare in practice and play hard every time. This is really good."

A native of Chihuahua, Mexico, Murillo contributed 16 points and 15 rebounds during a win against MSU Denver and followed up with 21 points and 15 rebounds against CSU Pueblo. He now has three double doubles this season and remains the only player in the Lone Star Conference currently averaging a double double.

The Greyhounds' next game is scheduled for Thursday night against Cameron at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
