The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team is set to compete in the Newman Classic in Wichita, Kansas this weekend. The Greyhounds, currently holding a 1-2 record, will face Fort Hays State on Friday at 2 p.m. MT and host Newman University on Saturday at 12 p.m. MT.

Eastern New Mexico enters the tournament after an 85-93 loss to Oklahoma Baptist earlier in the week. Despite this result, the team has averaged 76 points per game while limiting opponents to just over 70 points per contest.

Chloe Dallas leads ENMU with averages of 14 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, shooting .531 from the field and recording four blocks so far this season. Junior guard Julieta Ceja has also contributed significantly, averaging 11.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while making 60% of her three-point attempts and collecting four steals across three games.

Transfer guard Shay Moseberry adds another scoring option for the Greyhounds with an average of 10.3 points per game and a .429 three-point shooting percentage. In Tuesday's matchup against Oklahoma Baptist, Moseberry led ENMU with 14 points along with three steals and two blocks in just over twenty minutes of play.

The Greyhounds have shown strength in several statistical areas including three-point shooting (.377), creating turnovers (13 steals per game compared to opponents' seven), maintaining a slight rebounding edge (36 vs. 34.7), and distributing the ball effectively with an average of over fourteen assists each contest.

Fort Hays State arrives at the tournament undefeated after securing an 84-75 win over Sioux Falls at the Central Region Showcase. The Tigers are averaging eighty-four points per game on .508 shooting from the field and .462 from beyond the arc. Talexa Weeter leads FHSU with averages of thirty-two-and-a-half points and ten-and-a-half rebounds per game while shooting above sixty percent from the floor.

Other key players for Fort Hays State include Parker Stevenson (17.5 ppg, 5.5 apg) and Brooke Loewe (10.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg), both exceeding fifty percent accuracy from three-point range.

On Saturday, ENMU will take on Newman University whose leading scorer Jaeden McMillin averages twenty-and-a-half points along with three steals per game; Monica Redondo and Alexis Martin contribute ten points each on average for Newman as well.

While Newman has struggled offensively—averaging sixty-two points on thirty-eight percent shooting—the Jets have been more competitive defensively but have been outrebounded by nearly twelve boards per contest.

ENMU aims to address its own turnover issues after averaging eighteen turnovers through its first three games but continues to force nearly twenty turnovers from opponents each outing, which could provide important transition opportunities during tournament play.

After participating in the Newman Classic, Eastern New Mexico will return home to prepare for their Lone Star Conference opener as they look to build momentum ahead of conference competition.
