The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team began their 2025-26 season with an 80-52 win over Regis University on Friday at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver, Colorado.
Junior forward Chloe Dallas led the Greyhounds, scoring 13 points and collecting four rebounds. Dallas also recorded four blocks, including a significant block against Regis' Emily Allison during the first half. Senior guard Hannah Jensen made all three of her three-point attempts and added three steals to help establish and maintain the team's lead.
Aaliyah Smith contributed by making important free throws late in the second quarter, helping extend Eastern New Mexico's advantage to 17 points by halftime. Junior guard Julieta Ceja finished with nine points and led the team with six rebounds.
Eastern New Mexico gained a double-digit lead in the first quarter and maintained control throughout the game. By halftime, they were ahead 43-26. In the third quarter, they continued to build their lead, entering the final period up by 22 points. The Greyhounds' defense held Regis to a shooting percentage of 35.7 percent for the game.
With this result, Eastern New Mexico begins its season at 1-0 and continues its streak of winning season openers since 2017.
The team will play again on Saturday, November 15, facing Adams State University at Plachy Hall in Alamosa. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
